Procrastinating is the Pits!

Do you ever have those days where everything but what you are supposed to be doing conveniently becomes more important? Well, this about sums up my day!

With the deadline for my Law assignment looming, I have been burning the candle at both ends in order to fit research and journal reading into my over crowded schedule. Averaging three to four hours sleep a night I put todays procrastination session down to being on the verge of burnout.

I’d like to say that I took the day off, visited a spa, and was pampered for hours…far more glamorous than reality…and far from the truth, I’m sad to say.

But, I did step away from university related work. And, I tried to drown out the voices of characters, insistent on being heard, with the pounding of mallet to stamps upon leather. I find leather craft therapeutic in many ways…and it has nothing to do with bashing something with a hammer. Ha ha! 😉

With all craft there is waiting time in between drying stages, and for those who know me I can be a little impatient at times, but when I am in the crafting zone you’d never know this to be true. Glue drying means I can start a new project…and there’s nothing I enjoy more than new beginnings.

As much as I would have liked to spend all day making leather cuffs, I updated one of my many websites and read some writing related articles. I wrote a few notes on upcoming writing projects, mostly because nagging thoughts are not unlike those of a mother insisting a bedroom is in need of cleaning, and I shopped for a rabbit hutch to accommodate the dwarf rabbit my daughters boyfriend surprised her with today. Oreo, the newest member of our family has spent much of her time curled up in my lap…she is too adorable!

With a clearer mind and more relaxed than I’ve been for days, I will tackle a few Law related articles tonight, and try to decipher their meaning…ha ha! The fun will start when I have to write the assignment, especially since my lecturer has encouraged us to write our essay like we’re telling a story…not the sort of creative licence one should offer an author! 😉

So, what do you turn to when procrastination comes knocking? Or are you one of those, I long to become…if or when I grow up…who manage to push through and get the job done anyway?

Despite having a pile of work to tackle tonight, today was fabulous! I hope your day was fabulous too.
